Abstract

An infrared, room heater system for installation in a wall or on a floor. An electric fan assembly draws room air into a housing, then through three parallel, air transit channels where the air is heated by infrared radiation within and about a heat exchanger assembly, and then back out into the room. One or more ceramic heating elements attached to a first copper plate emit infrared radiation when electrically energized. The first copper plate lies adjacent to, but spaced away from, a second copper plate such that radiation emitted from the heating elements reflects back and forth between the plates. Room air passed between the copper plates is heated by heat radiation concentrated between the plates, thereby achieving both energy and space efficiency.

Heat exchangers machined form a thermally oriented block of composite material is provided. First and second arrays of fins can be machined into opposite sides of the block. Composite plates can be disposed over the machined fins to form passageways. A portable airborne wind-energy power conversion system, alone or in a modular array, wherein each portable airborne system comprises tethered airship, hydrogen generation system, hydrogen recovery system, and control system, wherein the tethered airship comprises a self-inflating horizontal-axis wind turbine rotor, an electrical generator, a self-inflating aerodynamic shroud surrounding the wind turbine rotor, and stabilizing fins, wherein the aerodynamic shroud has the geometry of a wind concentrator and diffuser in fluid communication with the wind turbine rotor that is located in the narrowest section of the shroud between the concentrator and diffuser sections of said shroud, wherein the airship is additionally self-deflating and the entire system is collapsible into a volume less than one tenth of its original size, so that the portable airborne system can be easily transported, stored, or relocated, wherein the system can continue to produce usable power, even during the process of self-deflation.

Abstract

An encoder system trains a compression model that includes an autoencoder model and a frame extractor model. The encoding portion of the autoencoder is coupled to receive a set of target frames and a previous state tensor for the set of target frames and generate compressed code. The decoding portion of the autoencoder is coupled to receive the compressed code and the previous state tensor for the set of frames and generate a next state tensor for the set of target frames. The frame extractor model is coupled to receive the next state tensor and generate a set of reconstructed frames that correspond to the set of target frames by performing one or more operations on the state tensor. The state tensor for the set of frames includes information from frames of the video that can be used by the frame extractor to generate reconstructed frames.

Abstract

A heat exchanger includes a plurality of spaced-apart plates and a plurality of spacers that separate the plates. The plates and spacers cooperate to form hot-side and cold-side passageways. The plates are made of a thermally and electrically conductive material, and the spacers are made of an electrically non-conductive material. A voltage is applied across the plates to electro-hydrodynamically increase heat transfer efficiency of the heat exchanger.

Claim

We claim: 1. A heat exchanger comprising: a plurality of carbon-carbon plates stacked in a substantially parallel spaced-apart relationship, the plates being thermally and electrically conductive; and a plurality of electrically non-conductive carbon spacers located between the plates; the spacers and the plates cooperating to define hot-side and cold-side passageways. 2. The heat exchanger of claim 1, wherein the plates include conductive fibers oriented in a single direction, and wherein the heat exchanger further comprises a plurality of fiber-traversing electrodes attached to the plates. 3. The heat exchanger of claim 1, wherein odd-numbered plates have fins extending from one side of the heat exchanger, and wherein even-numbered plates have fins extending from a different side of the heat exchanger. 4. The heat exchanger of claim 1, further comprising means for applying a controllable voltage to the plates. 5. The heat exchanger of claim 4, wherein opposing plates form anode-cathode pairs when the voltage is applied. 6.
